Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers over the last months. I appreciate the number of inquiries about my health and thought this might be a good time to send you all an update.
I’m a little more than two years post diagnosis for stage 4 pancreatic cancer. My oncologist is shocked that I’m still alive and equally shocked by my condition. I’m on a chemo regimen (two weeks on and one week off) that is easier on the body than IV chemo. Still, the typical patient lasts 2-3 cycles of the chemo I’m on before the side effects are too great, or the cancer comes back. I’m on something like cycle 28, and the only serious side effect I have is fatigue. The doctors can’t believe I’ve lasted so long on the chemo, and they just kind of shake their heads when I come in for appointments. The typical patient with this disease has a 3% chance of surviving for 24 months, so I’m incredibly grateful to be here.
I still get into the office a couple times a week to keep abreast of what’s going on in the world of CEO. I hear about your successes and your challenges, and couldn’t be prouder of the work you’re doing. Keep up the great, life-changing work, and I hope to see you all at next summer’s National Conference.
